Back "in the day" protecting your receiver from vibration by wrapping it in foam was standard operating procedure. This is not the case with 2.4GHz receivers. Unlike their 72MHz older brothers that relied on sensitive crystals, the solid state 2.4 GHz receivers are not as vulnerable to vibration, but are susceptible to heat. NOT wrapping them in foam lets them operate cooler - which is better for all electronics.
